Mysuru Warriors take home their fourth win. - 26/09/2016

A brilliant innings from Rajoo Bhatkal and Anirudha Joshi helped the warriors get back on top once again by beating the defending champions Bijapur Bulls by 4 wickets with two balls to spare. The Warriors have won all four games that they have played so far and are showing everyone that they deserve to be at the top of the chart.

Mysuru Warriors won the toss and elected to field first. The Bulls depended fully on a brilliant innings from the opener R Samarth who scored a magnificent 66 from 61 balls. The pressure of getting a fighting score on the board seemed to be a lot for the Bulls as the batsmen kept going back to the bench at regular intervals.

Bijapur Bulls skipper Robin Uthappa come to the crease hoping to help R Samarth and put up a good partnership but was soon run out by a spectacular direct throw by K Gowtham. MG Naveen. KC Avinash and Bharat Chipli all seemed to fall after the skipper was sent back.

The warriors bowlers made all the difference as Gowtham and Suchith kept a check on the Bulls batsmen and managed to restrict them along with picking up 4 wickets among them.

The last over was a great over for the Bulls as Arshdeep Barar smashed the medium pacers and boosted the total. R Samarth kept his innings going until he was caught by the warrior’s skipper Pandey and sent back in the last over with Bulls ending up at 161/6 off full 20 overs.

The men in yellow came out onto the crease fully confident that they could take home another win and started off with a rocky start. Within the fourth ball of the first over the Bulls had already picked up the wicket of Arjun Hoysala which immediately put pressure on the Warriors batsmen. The right- handed batsman Raajoo Bhatkal took charge of the chase and played a fantastic innings scoring 61 runs in just 41 balls.

Chasing down 162, Bhatkal was at the center and was consistent with his batting but he did not get the same support from the other end. The Warriors kept losing wickets and even skipper Manish Pandey, who scored more than 50 runs last game seemed to fall short into the hands of Farooqi even before he had a chance to start firing.

A much needed partnership came to the Warriors when they were under a lot of pressure as Anirudha Joshi stepped up and gave Bhatkal all the encouragement he needed. They added 63 runs in 45 balls before the unfortunate departure of Bhatkal who was caught by Chipli in the 13th over.

Anirudha Joshi carried on along with Suchith who added 36 runs in 28 balls, this managed to wreck the hopes of the Bulls. Joshi reached his 50 and managed to finish off the match with a six. The Warriors won their fourth consecutive match in a row.

Though the Bijapur Bulls opener Samarth kept the hopes and dreams of winning alive, Joshi and Bhatkal showed that they were better and got the Warriors their fourth win in a row. They are now at the top of the table and have become one of the most rounded squads in the Karnataka Premier League 2016.
