It’s a double Hat-trick - 30/09/2016

The match between the top two teams in Karnataka Premier League 2016 was set to go underway and the fans were most excited to see this clash.

The coin was flipped and the warriors decided to test the skill of the Hubli Tigers batting order. The men in yellow took the field with a lot of excitement and a strong bowling plan.

The Tigers came out to bat and started in a rousing fashion with opening batsman Mohammed Taha hammering away boundary after boundary. He managed to hit a total of five boundaries and it came to a situation where they were either taking a single or the ball was reaching the fence.

The openers made a strong partnership of 37 runs, Taha 33 and Manjeesh Reddy 22. This added pressure on the Warriors bowlers as they had to find a way to stop the runs from flowing in so easily. 19-year-old Medium pacer, Vyshak VijayKumar seemed to be the game changer as he came in and broke this partnership.

The Tigers could not build a strong partnership after this as the pressure of putting up a good fighting total got to them. The batsman could not stay at the crease for very long as they kept falling at the hands of the Warrior Bowlers, who bowled a fantastic 20 overs and managed to get them all out for just 169.

Each of the warriors bowlers stepped up and took their chances with the ball and picked up a few wickets. The 19-year-old did his magic with the ball and picked up 4 wickets. Suchith and Gowtham supported him well and picked up two wickets each. Nikith S also managed to pick up a wicket on his debut match for the warriors.

The Tigers hoped they would have better luck with the ball and came out all set. Arjun Hoysala and Raajoo Bhatkal, who open for the warriors stood up to the challenge and got the warriors off to a fine start by building a great partnership of 63 in just 44 balls before Bhatkal was caught by Kapoor. Hoysala was going strong and had the 24-year-old right handed batsman Akshay Khodath at the other end.

Khodath supported Hoysala well and helped him reach his 50. At the same time, they also made another important partnership of 50 in just 32 balls. Unfortunately, Hoysala was forced to depart at 58 thanks to some good bowling by Hoover. The Warriors skipper Manish Pandey came out to the middle and gave good encouragement to the youngster and helped take the warriors home.

Khodath was playing some exceptional cricket and soon reached his 50 in just 39 balls. Pandey was more of a supporter at the crease but sent some balls high into the air which edged the Warriors closer to the finish line. The third partnership of 59 in 38 balls marked the end of the Hubli Tigers fight as the Warriors won their sixth consecutive match.

In a game like T-20, it isn't all about only getting the ball to across the boundary, it’s also about getting those much needed partnerships at the crease, that’s what the Warriors were able to do. The three partnership of the warriors made all the difference. Already into the semi- finals, the Warriors have their eyes on that trophy that seems closer to them after each match.
