The Men in Yellow take home their first win. - 24/09/2016

Mysuru Warriors made the 148/ 7 in 20 overs seem like an easy task as the batsman put on a fantastic show and took home their first victory with 7 wickets in hand and 17 balls to spare.

Mangalore United won the toss and decided to bat first and were soon pushed into a corner after losing three wickets continuously, United soon found themselves at 33/3 inside the power play.

The Mysuru Warriors bowlers, Vyshak Vijaykumar, Adithya Sagar, and Rajoo Bhatkal did a fantastic job of keeping the batsman quiet by allowing them to score only 46 runs with the loss of 3 wickets in the first ten overs.

With the fall of early wickets, the pressure started to mount and the number of balls left were rapidly decreasing. Mangalore found a glimmer of hope when the right handed batsman, Nidish who came in fifth position decided to attack the Warriors bowling by slamming 54 runs in just 40 balls.

The Warriors bowling attack kept them going as they soon caught a few more wickets. Stand in Skipper, CM Gautham used caution and managed to cross a half century and make 64 runs from just 55 balls. He was soon sent back to the pavilion thanks to some brilliant fielding from Rajoo Bhatkal. Half centuries from Gautham and Nidish seemed to be the United’s saving grace as this ensured that they would have a fighting total of 148/7 in 20 overs.

The Warriors came back and got off to a fantastic start as they managed to get nine runs an over in the batting power play. Bhatkal and Arjun Hoysala seemed to be the perfect match as they made 70 runs between them. Rajoo Bhatkal made a sad departure from the crease at 48 runs off just 29 deliveries.

The Men in yellow managed to put on a fantastic show for the crowd as there were balls reaching the boundaries more than often. K Gowtham , came out to the crease and put on his power hitting display, where four balls were thrown into the Hubballi’s sky to clear the ropes.

Bhatkal, Gowtham, Hoysala were the only wickets to fall as Jonathan and Prateeksh managed to take the Warriors home easily. The Men in Yellow showed that they were not only good with the ball by restricting Mangalore United but showed that they were equally good with the bat, by dismissing each of the United bowlers for more than 8 runs an over.

The Men is Yellow have started the season off with a bang and are looking to keep this spirit and performance going for the rest of the season.
