3 Wins in 3 Matches. - 24/09/2016

The Mysuru Warriors won their hat-trick game tonight but the Bellary Tuskers lost their third game in a row as the Warriors beat them by 9 runs. The game started late due to the rain and the 17 overs seemed to be enough for the Warriors to take home another win with the help of some fabulous batting from Captain Manish Pandey.

There was enormous pressure on the Tuskers as winning this match after loosing the first two was crucial for them. The warriors seemed to be too good for them as the openers Hoysala and Bhatkal got off to a fantastic start until RajooBhatkal ran himself out.

Though the warriors lost the toss, they were happy to step up and bat first. They managed to put up a total of 158/7 in the 17 overs game. Arjun Hoysala seemed to be in good shape as he managed to put up a good total of 46 runs and help his skipper reach his half century. Pandey, fresh off from leading India A came into the warrior’s squad as captain and managed to use his skill and confidence to earn him his half century before being dismissed by some fantastic bowling of Jain.

The Captain got continuous encouragement and help from his teammates, especially Hoysala and Jonnathan who scored 30 runs of just 14 balls. The timing was exquisite and the ball kept coming onto the bat really well, the men in yellow managed to put up a fighting total of 158/7 in just 17 overs, this would definitely put the pressure back on the Tuskers.

The Tuskers came onto the pitch hoping to take home a victory and got off to a good start until they lost opener KB Pawan early, allowing him to make only 14 runs in 10 balls. The left- handed batsman RP Kadam was the one who stayed at the crease and gave the Tuskers a fighting chance as he sent 10 balls across the boundary.

The chance of winning the match in 17 overs seemed to slip away from the Tuskers as their batsmen kept falling at the hands of some splendid warrior’s bowlers. Kadam stayed at the crease and managed to make 61 runs off just 40 balls, but this was not good enough as he never had much support from his fellow Tuskers at the crease.

Very soon it was the final over of the match and the Tuskers needed 19 runs to win, with the right-arm medium bowler Koushik who had already taken 2 wickets was looking for third. With Chiranjeevi on strike and needing 15 runs from the last ball, the game was already over. The ball went to the boundary due to a misfield by the warriors and the Tuskers lost by 9 runs.

The Warriors are proving that they have a well-rounded squad that can do it all, with skipper Manish Pandey back, the men in yellow are full of confidence and showing that they are one of the strongest sides in the competition
